We're Moving
Yup... we're moving.... again. Seems like the last few months have flown by so I'll give you the Reader's Digest blow by blow.
Hubby got a job offer back in November of '04 from my step-dad to come into the family business. We poopoo'd the whole thing and really didn't take it seriously.
February rolls around and we're having some major financial pains. We really can't afford the house we're in. Taxes are killer. Cost of living is going out of sight. Hubby's 200 mile a day commute is eating us alive! We need to move out of this house to keep from going under financially. We start looking at places to move and what our options are. Step-dad repeats the job offer.
March we start really wondering what we can do about this. We have a senior, a junior, and two freshmen in high school next year. We do not want to move the kids once they start high school (the oldest are with family to make sure that didn't happen). We schedule a trip home during spring break and really look at if hubby would want to change to this line of work and if we could survive on the salary. We talk about selling the house and all the consequences. Job looks good, we find a house and make a bid, then head home. We get home from the week long trip and are served with mediation papers by the hex. Lovely! Hubby goes to mediation and deals with the hex. She's fresh out of inpatient rehab and wants to start seeing the kids again.
First week of April - stepdad gives us an actual salary amount. Whoop Whoop! it's doable! We put the house on the market. It sells in one day! *faint* Nuts! the offer on the new house isn't accepted. My sister starts looking again. We contact the minors atty and start talking about the out of state move. Moving is inevitable... where is the question now. Minors atty agrees to work between parents to facilitate the conversation. The hex is now unreachable. Wait... osd calls... wants to visit the kids and finds out that we're moving and drops the bomb that the hex was kicked out of her outpatient program so has moved back in with her sister. My sister has found us a house!! Yeah! Cute, affordable, and enough room for every rug rat we have!
The minors atty contacts hex and a meeting is set for the day before the court hearing in May. We meet... she walks in the door and says "no". We talk more. Atty talks and lets her know that with hubby as primary custodial parent that he doesn't see any detriment, and she'd have to prove detriment to stop the move. We talk more. Present the case. She opens up and sees we're trying to be reasonable. The move is inevitable, the out of state move is really better for us and she gets more time and flexibility out of the deal. With one wording change she agrees to the move! Whoop!! We meet at the courthouse the next day... review the papers that I typed up... everyone signs... the judge is thrilled that there is an agreement and compliments that it's very comprehensive (I'll take a bow later for that!). Judge signs... we get copies... and it's done!
Wait... house falls out of escrow... CRAP! Realtor works her magic... it's back on the market and sold in 5 days only because the original buyers are being dorks and not signing the recision papers. The best news is that we can still keep our original timeline and it actually works out better.... an extra week fixes a few other issues. Whoop!
Just a few more details and we can leave this state and head "home". Never thought I'd want to move back... but the trip in November with my daughter made me really wonder why I've tried to stay away for so long. Wandering paths and all that... I'm sure that there is some purpose here. SO here we are... packing and running for the hills before anything else can happen. Praying is becoming a habit of every moment. We need this to go smoothly. We need to get the heck out of here! Breathe. Breathe. Breathe. That's what my friends keep telling me. It will all happen... it has to be meant to happen or things wouldn't have worked out the way they have.
Onward and upward....
